Quick Tips for Selecting Your Electric Smoker
1. While barbecue purists reserve the term "smoked meat" for foods made in a smoke house, Bradley electric smokers have now made it possible for any barbecue lover to enjoy succulent, smoked flavor in his own home. Bradley electric smokers are often not permitted in BBQ
competitions because it is too easy to achieve excellent results!
2. Basic "smokers" are really just grills designed to slowly cook meat while letting the smoke of burning wood enhance the flavor of the meat. These grill smokers are great for backyard barbecues, but the true BBQ aficionado may appreciate a "refrigerator" style smoker, which can cook many pounds of meat at a time.
3. The most commonly used aromatic woods are pecan, hickory, or mesquite. Try experimenting with combinations of wood types or toss in less common woods like apple, alder, or cherry. For the best results, soak wood chips in water for 30-60 minutes before cooking.
4. Refrigerator style Bradley electric smokers are user-friendly and virtually foolproof. Sophisticated technology precisely controls the internal temperature of the smoker with no effort from you. Fluctuations are minor and constantly corrected by the machine. Look for models that at least have low, medium, and high settings, although full thermostat controls are better.
5. Keep in mind that Brinkmann electric smokers typically draw 10-20 amps, so if your outlet is already carrying a load, it can pop the circuit breaker.
